Cake Collection Guide
COLLECTION ADDRESS - 4 Te Reinga View, Tawa
Te Reinga View is a wee cul-de-sac. I’m on the righthand side, behind the wooden fence.
The entrance is the tall gate by the mailbox. Please ring the doorbell by the gate when you arrive.
PARKING
As I’m on a small street, parking is limited. If there is a space on the car-pad just before the wooden fence, you’re welcome to park there. Otherwise, there is on-street parking all along the opposite side of the road, or at the bottom of the cul-de-sac. Please don’t park over any other driveways - my neighbours will get grumpy!!!
If you’re struggling to park nearby, give me a call and I’ll come out to meet you.
COLLECTION TIME
We will agree a collection time when I confirm your order.
It’s really important you arrive when you say you will. Let’s Eat Cake is just me, so I need to keep a close eye on time to get everything done. But I know ‘life happens’, so if something comes up or changes, please let me know as soon as possible. My number is 0224748945. Text is usually best as I’m not always able to answer the phone while I’m working.
TRAVELLING WITH YOUR CAKE
I will set your cake in the fridge ready to travel, but please remember it is held together by butter icing!
***Tilting or shaking your cake may cause the butter icing to become unstable and the layers or decorations to shift***
I strongly recommend travelling with your cake in the boot of the car. If that is not possible, put it in the passenger foot-well. DO NOT travel with your cake on the seats or on your lap as this means it will be tilted for the duration of the journey.
If possible, bring a couple of tea-towels or small blankets to pop around the base of the box.
If the cake is in the footwell, please turn off your car heaters. Sorry if your feet get cold.
Your cake will be in a cardboard travel box and on a sturdy cake board, but you will still need to take care. The cake box sides flex in and out, so please remove any items from the area that could fly about and knock into the box.
Always pick up the box from the bottom to avoid the sides of the box touching your cake
Don’t be afraid of travelling with cake but do be mindful of how you drive. Drive smoothly, turn slowly and avoid heavy braking!! If you don’t feel confident collecting your cake, or for whatever reason you’re not able to collect, just let me know and we can try to organise delivery
STORING YOUR CAKE AT HOME
I recommend collecting your cake on the day you plan to serve it, however if you need to store it overnight, let me know and I’ll make appropriate suggestions for storage. In very warm weather you will need to find space in the fridge to store your cake. However, during most of the year you can simply keep it cool (around 15c), out of the sun and away from any other direct source of heat. Also make sure your cake is back at room temperature before serving for best flavour and texture. Cake is best served between 18c and 20c.
Once cut, any leftovers will need to be stored in an airtight container. You can keep leftovers at room temperature for up to 3 days. You can also freeze leftovers. Place in an airtight box. Defrost overnight before enjoying. Never microwave cake!!!
And that’s it. You’re all set
Thank you so much for ordering your cake from me.
I hope you enjoy eating it as much as I’m going to enjoy making it.

ALLERGENS AND ALLERGIES
I believe that no-one should miss out on cake, so I bake for those with all sorts of special dietary requirements. I do everything in my power to ensure that my cakes are safe for those with allergies and intolerances, but please be aware that I bake and decorate all cakes in the same kitchen and cannot therefore guarantee a fully allergen free environment.
